Numerical Study of Thermal-Hydraulic Performance of a New Spiral Z-Type PCHE for Supercritical CO2 Brayton Cycle

Printed circuit heat exchangers (PCHEs) have the characteristics of high temperature and pressure resistance, as well compact structure, so they are widely used in supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) Brayton cycle. In order to fully study transfer process Z-type PCHE, a numerical model traditional PCHE was established accuracy verified. On this basis, new type spiral (S-ZPCHE) is proposed paper. The segmental design method compare changes under 5 different angles, it found that increasing angle θ structure will reduce drop fluid. effects angles on thermal-hydraulic performance S-ZPCHE were compared. results show loss fluid greatly reduced, while slightly concluded 20° optimal. local flow states original optimal compared analyze reason for reduction effect structure. Finally, analyzed variable working conditions. reducing more obvious low Reynolds number region.
